Do I still have to keep different versions of my file on my computer?
No, you can happily edit anything in your file and upload it (after saving) with the changes to Version Drop, we do all the versioning for you and you never lose any previous work. We say you can “edit, drop, and relax”.
Why did you build Version Drop when there are other versioning systems in market?
We were frustrated by the fact that existing versioning systems tend to be overly complex for practical use in most situations and using them as part of a workflow is almost pointless for most projects. Also, file storage systems tend to include versioning as an afterthought and make it awkward to deliberately include as part of a workflow and they tend to serve more as a 'backup' than a deliberate decision to snapshot a point in time.
What is the difference between sharing a snapshot and sharing a project?
Sharing a snapshot shares that particular version of the file – even if you upload more snapshots later that share link will still only work for that particular version. Sharing a “Project” shares the 'latest' version, so if you upload a new version, the share link will allow the user to download that new version and so on for every new version you upload, it’s designed to give you control over what you share and is very easy to use.
Can a document in progress be shared?
Yes – as long as you save your file and upload it you can share it. This can be useful for sharing drafts for feedback or rough prototypes for approval.
What type of files can I upload?
Any single file will work. The only projects that aren't really suited to Version Drop are projects where there are multiple files as part of the same project, such as building a website. If your project consists of one single file, then you can upload it.
Is there a limit on the individual file size?
No, it all counts towards your plan limit, so provided you're within that limit you can upload any file size you like for an individual file. It’s also easy o upgrade/downgrade your plan.
How easy is it to upgrade my account?
Very straightforward, just go to the 'My Plans' section of your account and select your new plan. Plans are billed monthly and you can upgrade/downgrade at any time.
Do you have an affiliate scheme?
We offer various affiliate schemes and partnerships, please contact us for more details if you're interested in working with us.
Am I tied into a long-term contract?
No, not at all, our plans are all monthly rolling so once you pay, you get the service for a month. You can cancel at any point to prevent a bill for the next month.
Can I mix the file-types in one project?
You can, and sometimes that might be exactly what you want. For example, a graphic designer might want to upload their editor file (e.g. PSD) while they're working on it but then upload a finished exported image to share when they are ready.
Is there a team account option available?
Not currently but we are planning on building it. If you have any suggestions for features or any other feedback please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.
